Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-17)

The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, led by Ernest Shackleton, had two main ships: Aurora and Endurance; one major boat journey in the James Caird, and several rescue voyages, including one in the Yelcho.

Their observations were never published, but many of the original records of the expedition have been preserved in the archives of The Scott Polar Research Institute.
